We so don't need a dog
Belle played fetch with Emily tonight. Belle tossed a toy across the room and then cheered Emily on as little Emily crawled furiously to retrieve the toy. When Emily victoriously held the toy in her hand, Belle applauded her proud sister. Both girls were having fun and Emily was practicing her crawling, so I just enjoyed watching.
Mommy who?
Exhausted from the week, I wore my glasses instead of my contact lenses last Friday. I also threw my hair up into a loose bun rather than leave it down.
When I picked Belle up from school, she asked me why I was wearing my glasses. "You usually don't wear your glasses at school, Mommy." "Usually" is a very impressive four-syllable word for a three-year-old to use appropriately.
Even funnier: when I arrived to pick up Emily from the babysitter's home, Emily looked at me blankly and continued playing nicely. I realized that she didn't recognize me. When I finally said, "Hi, Emily! It's me: Mommy!" then Emily reacted and was excited to see me.
It doesn't take much to go incognito.

"Up!"
Emily started babbling a few weeks ago and it is a pleasure to listen to her. "Dadadadada" and "mamamamamama" and "gagagagaga." Well, she seems to be using the word, "up" appropriately. When she is lifted, she says, "up." And then she smiles her sweet smile.
And in conclusion, Emily's first word: UP! :)

Social Emily
When I picked up Emily from day care last Thursday, she struggled to get out of my arms so she could make her way over to Max, a little boy who is about a month older than Emily. She went right up to him and said, "uh!" and smiled. It was cute, andI am thrilled that Emily is becoming a social butterfly (which, for an infant, means she is happy to be around people besides Mommy).
Belle Dot Com
Belle and I were talking about email and I told that she has an email address: Belle dot Cepler at gmail dot com. I have been trying to teach Belle our home address. When I asked her where we live, to quiz her on our address, she said she lives in White Plains, New York dot com.
