In trouble
Belle and Marc are demonstrating pupil punishment in 1876 in the one - room schoolhouse at Mystic Seaport. Their noses are touching the blackboard and they are standing on their toes.

Cousin Lois to the rescue!
Belle and I are under the wether, but Emily is good as new and raring to go. I asked Cousin Lois for some help today, so here are Emily and Lois playing in the sprinkler.

Belle's book
Grammy and Grampy stapled a few blank pieces of printer paper together, and a book was born. Belle titled her book "I Love Rainbows," and she drew pictures on each page that relate to her love of rainbows.
Belle declared, "let's give it to the library!" Yes, I thought, because books live in the library, and I am always happy to foster a love of book, and I am also happy to encourage a spirit of giving.
So, we went to our public library the other day. With pose and confidence, Belle presented her book to the librarian in the children's section. Belle said,"I made this book and I want to give it to the library." The librarian was lovely, kind and appropriate. She asked Belle to walk her through the book, which Belle did (explaining the pictures on each page). When Belle was done, the librarian offered accolades. I volunteered that I wanted to borrow the book, and the librarian generously helped me check Belle's out when I checked out a few other items.
Belle lives to read, and I hope she continues to do so. I also wouldn't be upset if Belle grows to love writing and/or creating.

We met the author!
At Barnes and Noble's Story Time we heard this author read her book. We bought the book and she signed it for us. Oh, and I won a raffle, so we all came home with something today :)

Sunday FUNday
Somehow, we squeeze 24 hours of fun into our summer Sundays. This morning, Craig started the day by biking with Belle on board to the beach in Mamaroneck (Harbor Island Park on the Long Island Sound). The two enjoyed a picnic breakfast as they watched boats go out for the day. Emily and I drove to the park, picked them up, and we four went to the pool. We had a fun swim on this hot, humid day. Craig and Belle even flew down the water slide! After, we went to a friend's house to get together with Cornell buddies with spouses and babies. It was a fun (and delicious) reunion. We ended the day back at Harbor Island Park in Mamaroneck with a picnic dinner and a go at the playground.
